Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) started selling cars in 1936, the Toyota AA, a four door sedan. From assembling a little over a thousand cars in its first year, Toyota has grown to one of the largest automotive manufacturers in the world, producing 9.5 million vehicles in its top production year, 2007.

Toyota Avalon is a Japanese full-size sedan, a front wheel drive version of the discontinued Ford Crown Victoria/Lincoln Town Car/Mercury Grand Marquis line of vehicles. The first generation Avalon was based on the Toyota Camry and was introduced to the US market in 1994. Toyota is releasing the fourth generation Avalon as a 2013 model.

Toyota Camry was originally a compact vehicle, but has as the main competitor, Honda Accord, grown in size for every generation. The current Accord is considered a full size vehicle while the latest Camry is still considered a mid-size car. The Toyota Camry was introduced to the US in 1983 and became a mid-size sedan in 1992 with the release of the 3rd generation. The current generation, the 7th, was introduced in 2011 as a 2012 model.

Toyota Celica, a two door sporty hardtop with a chassis based on the Toyota Carina, became available in the US as a 1971 model. The first three generations, up until the 1985 had a front engine, rear wheel drive layout. From the 4th to the 6th generation in 1999, the Celica had front wheel or 4-wheel drive. The seventh and final generation had only front wheel drive. The Celica was discontinued in the US in 2006.

Toyota Echo was a small subcompact car sold in the US between 1999 and 2005. The Echo shared the platform with the Scion xA and xB. In 2005 the Echo changed name to Yaris.

The Toyota Prius was introduced as a compact hybrid car and became available in the US in 2001. The second generation, on sale from 2003, was enlarged and became a mid-size vehicle. The 3rd generation became available in 2009 as a 2010 model.

Toyota Yaris is a subcompact front wheel drive car marketed as the Toyota Echo in the US from 1999 through 2005. From the second generation, in production from 2005 to 2010, the car was renamed Yaris in the US, equal to the model name in other markets. The 3rd generation Yaris was introduced in 2010.
